Ford have just announced they will be entering a pair of 800 BHP rallycross fiestas in this years Pikes Peak hillclimb, unbelievable! The car will do 0-60 MPH in a staggering 2.8 seconds equalling the Bugatti veyron. This is some serious piece of kit and proof that Ford are still a major player in the car industry. The only question now is when will it go on sale to the general public so I can get my hands on one!

Yo peeps

Now I wouldn’t normally bring you a blog on anything political, but seeing as the majority of the chancellors 2009 budget was doom and gloom their was some interesting news for us car nuts….

The budget 2009 was out yesterday and the chancellor had some details worth taking note of for motorists in the UK. Good news is that motorists are to get £2000 towards a new car if they scrap a 10 year old model. This “scrappage” scheme is set to cost the government £300 million and is intended to be a much needed boost for the ailing car industry and as a double whammy will take the most environmentally unfriendly cars off the road.

Alastair darling forecasts for growth etc have been questioned however he believes the scheme will result in at least 300,000 new cars being bought in Britain by the time the scheme finishes and says it will kick-start the industry which has struggled in the last 6-9 months. Full details of the scheme, which will also apply to vans, will be announced by Lord Mandelson’s Department of Business within the next few weeks.

Unfortunatly it won’t be as easy as simply going out buying a cheap car that’s over 10 years old scrapping it and getting the discount. There are strict guidlines, if you want to take advantage of this scheme you should begin negotiations for a new car at the dealership by providing proof of the car’s age and (here’s the catch) the fact that you have owned the vehicle for at least a year. This will prevent somebody buying a very cheap car from a scrapyard and using it to claim the discount. The car would also have to be inspected, by a dealer of an official Authorised Treatment Facility. Once these formalities have been completed, you will be presented with a certificate which will enable you to buy a new model.

Now the bad news from yesterdays budget 09 was fuel prices are going up by 2 p as of next month which is a real bummer if your a petrol head like me ! What I can’t understand is how when everyone is feeling the ‘pinch’ except, it would seem the petrol companies, why are we taxed more at our end when they recorded record proffits 08-09. Why not keep the prices the same and tax them their end ?

Anyway I’ve had my rant I hope you found some of the info useful I promise next time no politics.

Rock on

Anyone seen the new porsche 5 door ? The Panamera, what a mean looking peice of kit.

In this blog I will be giving you some information on some of the great bits of innovative kit those Germans have been developing for their latest masterpiece.

The Panamera has a start/stop button fitted which will help cut fuel bills by up to 23%
fitted to Porsche’s new luxury car.

While other German manufacturers have been talking about fitting an engine stop-start system to cars with large engines and automatic transmission, Porsche has beaten them all to it with the Panamera.

All three versions of the new V8-engined Porsche Panamera will have this fuel-saving device.

Even more impressively, it means that the engine stop-start is being offered with a automatic gearbox for the first time and fuel savings of up to 23%.
The way this stop start technology works is equally as impressive as the fuel saving benefits.
As the driver brakes to a standstill, sensors pick up that the car is coming to rest and cut the engine. Another neat trick is the hill-hold function this means you dont need to apply the handbrake manually.
As soon as you start to let go of the footbrake the engine kicks in again.

Im sure youll agree the German guys at Porsche are leading the way for sports/ performance car technology.

I hope you found this article interesting

Yo car bloggers

My name is cargeek666 i will be blogging to you as often as i can over the coming months, passing on my expertise in the new and used car industry. Hopefully i will be able to help some of you in both choosing a car ‘what to look out for’ etc and if your looking to sell a car some useful tips to ensure you achieve a stress free sale.

So in my first blog i will discuss some advertising avenues to explore when choosing which company to advertise your car with.
Quite simply this is somewhat of a mind field as there are many companies to choose from some of which promise you the earth but deliver nothing and others that are perhaps less ‘branded’ but more effective. The obvious example is auto trader, although they have been around for many years and have proven success in the automotive field the prices they charge are nothing short of daylight robbery ! Whilst selling many cars over the years with this company i became despondent with their poor customer care, bullish sales tactics and over pricing. I decided to carry out some research into other car advertising internet sites. I examined the ‘traffic’ (human visitors) to there website. After all if no one looks at the site know one was going to buy my car ! I then looked at how much they charged and if their was any hidden cost ie like auto trader. I came across a website called vehicletext SELL CAR I found them top of google for the search term advertise any car out of about 85 million results (which has to be good !) and the charged just £10 for a two weeks advertisement.I checked out their site which was easy to use and had roughly 12000 cars being advertised for sale. So taking this into account i decided to give them a whirl. I am thrilled to say i managed to sell my car within the two weeks, in fact it took me only 10 days ! I have since listed another 5 cars and have had a really positive response. I will continue to use the free listings in my local paper but have to say if you are looking to sell your car Vehicletext could be a good find !

Good luck amigos

Until next time
